Developed by Rob Shock, director of specialty gas automation, AcuGrav™ computerized filling systems help Airgas provide greater accuracy, precision and consistency for specialty gas mixtures. Since the late 1990s, Airgas has expanded into higher-growth areas, including safety products, bulk, medical and specialty gases. In fiscal 2004, we began strengthening one of the country’s largest specialty gas infrastructures, which includes six national laboratories supporting 45 regional labs. Nearly half of our labs are certified to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard. We also introduced breakthrough technologies like our AcuGrav™ computerized filling systems, which provide greater accuracy, precision and consistency for specialty gas mixtures. Medical has been one of the brightest growth niches, achieving 8% growth for the past three years. At year-end, we formed Airgas Puritan Medical divisions in each regional company to combine the dedicated focus and heritage of our Puritan Medical business acquired in 2000 with the strength and reach of our Airgas regional companies. These strategic niches complement our core business and give Airgas a broader foundation for future growth.
