Nickel Alloy MIG welding wire is used mainly in the joining of dissimilar metals. This wire is similar to electrodes in that the flux is contained in the wire and melts to forms a shielding cloud of inert gas around the weld. Flux core wire requires clean up of the bead similar to electrodes, and is not effected by the wind. Flux core wire has better penetration for 115-volt welders. Flux core machines can weld from 20 gauge steel to 3/16" in a single pass.
