In the U.S., there are more than 7,000 power plants of all kinds—from natural gas and petroleum to nuclear and hydroelectric—and nearly double the number of chemical manufacturing facilities. Together, these two industry sectors contribute more than 10 percent of America's annual gross domestic product—according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration and American Chemistry Council—and Airgas is a key provider to all parts of their operations. As a valued supplier, we help them refine oil and gas … produce and process chemicals … and generate power safely and effectively. In addition, we provide solutions that help industrial water treatment facilities meet EPA standards.
Airgas' Investment in Hydrocarbon Production
The U.S. market for hydrocarbon gas liquids has grown steadily in the last several years, as shown at right. We continue to expand our hydrocarbon mixture capabilities to support the growing natural gas exploration efforts in the U.S. In 2015, we broke ground on a new hydrocarbon facility in Stryker, OH, and expanded our hydrocarbon mixture capabilities in Tulsa, OK.
It's all about generating power without pollutants. Through our nationwide network, we deliver ammonia to power plants so they can keep America's lights on while keeping nitrogen oxides out of the atmosphere.

Chemical, power and utility companies dot the U.S. map. They are everywhere, and we are there for them. We recently deployed our new district manager position throughout the organization to put Airgas leaders at the local level who can better understand customer issues and come up with the right solutions. With our OUTLOOK® Managed Services, we provide supply chain management services so these large operations can concentrate on their core business. And we provide all types of gases for everything from operations to emission controls to maintenance in whatever mode works best for these customers.
