The ESAB 7018-1 Prime (also known globally as OK 55.00) is a low-hydrogen, low-alloy carbon manganese SMAW electrode featuring a basic LMA (Low Moisture Absorption) coating. This electrode is specifically engineered for high-strength welding in cold-temperature and NDT-critical applications, providing exceptional toughness and resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking. It is supplied in VacPac vacuum-sealed packaging, which guarantees fresh and dry electrodes upon opening and eliminates the immediate need for re-baking or storage in holding ovens. The product is identified in some regions under the CNDT 45 SERS (451825) designation and is manufactured at ESAB's Perstorp, Sweden facility.
Features
VacPac vacuum-sealed packaging utilizing laminated multi-layer aluminum foil hermetically sealed around a plastic inner box
Unlimited shelf life when stored in undamaged original packaging
Low Moisture Absorption (LMA) coating reduces re-absorption of moisture from the air
Graphite coating on the electrode end for improved arc initiation
12-hour safe exposure time after opening VacPac (with foil left in place)
Eliminates the need for rod ovens or quivers when used straight from the package
