Unlike other adsorbents, Molecular Sieves have a precise uniform size and molecular dimension. 4A-AP Molecular Sieve activated powder adsorbent is the sodium form of the Type A crystal structure. An alkali metal aluminosilicate, 4A-AP adsorbs molecules with critical diameters up to 4 Angstrom. *Airgas repackages and markets Molecular Sieves manufactured by Honeywell UOP. Applications
4A molecular sieve powder is used in many urethane formulations and metal-rich paints/coatings are extremely susceptible to moisture contamination during production and storage.
For urethane-based coating, adhesive, sealant, and elastomer formulations, water will react with isocyanate, which may cause product curing problems, carbon dioxide off-gassing, blistering, and degradation of other physical properties.
For zinc or aluminum paints/coatings, water in the presence of reactive metal dust can react to generate hydrogen, greatly reducing product shelf life.
4A-AP molecular sieve powder is a superior water scavenger in these and many other moisture-sensitive applications.
