Item Details
Honeywell UOP Molecular Sieves* are synthetically produced, crystalline metal aluminosilicates that have been activated for adsorption by removing their water of hydration. Unlike other adsorbents, Molecular Sieves have a precise uniform size and molecular dimension. 5A MOLSIV Adsorbent is a clay-bound calcium form of Type A molecular sieve. 5Amolecular sieve will adsorb molecules with critical diameters up to 5 angstroms. . *Airgas repackages and markets Molecular Sieves manufactured by Honeywell UOP. This product is a 135 kg drum of 5A 1/16" Pellets that is non returnable
Features
Nominal Pore Diameter (angstroms) - 5
Particle Diameter* (mm) - 1.6
Bulk Density (lb/ft³) - 44
Heat of Adsorption (Btu/lb H2O) - 1800
Crush Strength (lbs) - 6
Equilibrium H2O Capacity** (wt.-%) - 21.5
Moisture Content (wt.-%) - 1
* The length of the pellets is approximately twice the diameter.
** Measured at 17.5 mm Hg and 25°C
Applications
5A is the molecular sieve which made possible the separation of normal paraffins from branched-chain and cyclic hydrocarbons through a selective adsorption process.
5A is also recommended for use in pressure swing purification of hydrogen.
