Harris® Safety-Silv® 40 high silver brazing alloy filler metal 1/16" round 50 troy oz. coil packed in a box is a ductile free-flowing alloy with good penetration into tight connections. Formulated for brazing copper, brass and steel. The lower melting range allows it to be used where part clearance cannot be tightly controlled. Safety-Silv® 40 provides an opportunity for cost savings when compared with traditional 45% silver alloys. It is a silver to light yellow color, like polished brass. Conforms to the EU Reach and RoHS directive.
Features
Cadmium-free, silver brazing alloy
Good ductility
Often used for corrosive applications or high temperature service, so suitability for the brazing alloy should be evaluated for the intended condition
Good replacement for hazardous cadmium-bearing filler metals
Moderate temperature alloy with a medium plastic range
Suitable for brazing assemblies with wider gaps
Fluidity rating of 8.0
Corrosion resistance is generally similar to copper base metal, but due to its zinc content it should not be used if the braze is exposed to concentrated corrosive liquid for long periods of time
Conforms to the EU Reach and RoHS directive
Specifications
Manufactured to Harris' internal engineering standards
Applications
Brazing copper, brass and steel alloys.
Cost effective alternative to 45% silver alloys.
Suitable for wider clearances.
Provides good ductility.
Caution
Before use, read and understand the manufacturer's instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and your employer's safety practices
Keep your head out of fumes
Use enough ventilation, exhaust at the flame, or heat source, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing zone and the general area
