Item Details

  • HOBART® Formula XL®-550 Gas Shielded Flux Core Carbon Steel Tubular Welding Wire of 0.045" Dia produces smooth weld beads with uniform fusion and is ideal for all position welding. Rutile-type, flux-cored wire withstands cracking in severe applications and gives low diffusible hydrogen weld deposit. Wire with fast freezing slag and low hydrogen levels minimizes surface preparation requirements and enhances productivity. Wire with high-deoxidizer formulation has good arc characteristics and is designed to allow excellent Charpy V-notch impact values at lower temperatures. It gives high-quality welds even when welded through rust, mill scale and some primers. Wire reduces the risk of underbead cracking and is ideal for various heavy weldments requiring high-quality, low-hydrogen welds. Wire can be used as a substitute for 7018 in many areas of applications. It helps to reduce clean-up time and the risk of inclusion. Wire will have 85000 psi tensile strength, 75000 yield strength, 48.80 J CVN at 0 deg F and 28% elongation when welded using CO2. Wire will have 93000 psi tensile strength, 82000 yield strength and 77.88 J CVN at 0 deg F when welded using 75% Ar/25% CO2. It is associated with E71T-1CJ/9CJ/12CJ H4 class of wires and is used in single or multiple pass applications with CO2. Wire comes in a vacuum-packed spool of 33 lb and is used in shipbuilding, storage vessels, structural steel as well as earth moving equipment industries. This wire has to be stored in a dry, enclosed environment and in its original intact packaging.
