- HOBART® Fabshield® XLR-8™ Self Shielded Flux Core Carbon Steel Tubular Welding Wire with 0.072" Dia comes on a 20 lb vacuum packed spool. It is designed for applications requiring all position capability with low temperature impacts like shipbuilding, bridge construction support members that are welded to plates, offshore oilrig fabrication and pressure vessels subject to rigorous inspection. It is made for use outside. It finds its application in structural steel, shipbuilding, bridge construction and offshore rigs industries. It helps increase productivity and welds out of position at high currents and low hydrogen weld deposit. It renders enhanced resistance to cracking and encourages X-ray quality welds. It features better slag removal and reduces risk of slag entrapment. It is ideal for welding outdoors with no shielding gas required and has mechanical properties within a broad range of heat input. It has high impact strength at low temperatures while resisting cracking in severe applications. It can be used under AWS D1.8 for use on demand critical welds. It has fast-freezing, basic type, flux-cored wire slag system. It features tensile strength of 81900 psi and yield strength of 67500 psi.
