The ITW / Miller 6108E Shield Spatter is an industrial-grade chemical welding consumable formulated as a high-efficiency barrier fluid. It is engineered to prevent the thermal adhesion of weld spatter onto base metals, contact tips, gas nozzles, shrouds, and surrounding tooling infrastructure during heavy-arc welding operations. This non-silicone, water-based emulsion isolates target surfaces without compromising metallurgical integrity or downstream finishing processes.
Features
Eliminates Secondary Rework: Prevents hot spatter from fusing to base metal, removing the need for post-weld grinding, chiseling, or wire brushing
Silicone-Free Composition: Ensures optimal paint and powder-coat adhesion without the risk of fish-eye craters
In-Process Corrosion Resistance: Contains active flash-rust inhibitors to protect bare steel workpieces from oxidation
Consumable Life Extension: Increases the lifespan of gas nozzles, contact tips, diffusers, and shrouds by preventing spatter bridges
High-Heat Stability: Maintains a stable barrier film under intense thermal radiant energy from high-amperage spray-transfer or pulsed GMAW arcs
User Safety: Zero VOC emission profile minimizes hazardous fumes and workplace exposure in the welder's breathing zone
Easy Removal: Residue can be wiped off or cleaned with standard aqueous cleaners or solvent prep-wipes
Non-Flammable: Utilizes nitrogen propellant and water-based chemistry for safe use in high-heat environments
